Conversation in the car

On the way to dinner with Donna and Brandon last night Talon mentioned the dumb giraffe that is on the side of the road to Hailey. We were on Greenfield, not Val Vista, and we were already too far north. Anyway, Hailey started crying that she wanted to see it and told me to turn around. When I told her that we were not going to go all the way back to Val Vista and Broadway (or wherever that dumb thing is) she wouldn't stop crying about it. So, as we were passing Falcon Field, I tried to change the subject. Here's how our conversation went:

Me: Hailey, if you look out your window you can see planes
Hailey: Me no like planes
Me: Those planes are broken...look at those, they're broken
Talon: Why don't they fix them?
Me: I don't know (I'm just glad Hailey has stopped crying)
Talon: They need to call the police. They can't fix them, only my daddy can fix things.
Me: Oh yeah?
Talon: Yeah, but how is he going to get in there? I guess he needs to climb the fence.
Hailey: Mommy, me want to see giraffe!
