Lacy - 19 days old...and one day after her due date.

Well, we went back to the doctor today, and Lacy had only gained 3 ounces since last Monday. Apparently she is supposed to gain an ounce a day at this age. She also still had blood in her stool, and oral thrush (basically a yeast infection in her mouth, which he said kids with allergies to milk proteins get often). The pediatrician said that we need to order a case of the MOST EXPENSIVE FORMULA ON EARTH, and then we should be able to go back to the SECOND MOST EXPENSIVE FORMULA ON EARTH. He thinks once she goes through one case she should be fine. I have to take her back in a week to check her weight gain, and then once she's been on the gold powder for a week he wants to see her again to check her stool - again. With all that said, does this look like a sick baby to you?On another note, when we got home the other day there were a couple of rabbits playing in our backyard and I got a couple pictures of them before they ran off. In the first picture they are just about in the middle and one is jumping over the other. In the second picture one is hiding behind the bush and the other is waiting for him to come out.

The Phoenix Zoo

Yesterday Grandma and Grandpa Dairman took us to the zoo, and then out to lunch. We had such a great time I thought I would share a few pictures with you. Here are Gavin and Hailey petting the sting rays with Grandma...
and Ava and Talon with Grandma and Grandpa. Talon said that he didn't pet any because his arm isn't long enough yet, but Gavin said he touched 19!
Here are Talon and Hailey on the carousel with Grandma.
Here is everybody taking a break by the giraffes.
Talon in the petting zoo.
Hailey and Ava at the petting zoo.
Gavin and Ava by the blue frog.
...and of course the car ride home.
One funny story to share with you about the day. We left our house at about 8:15 am and went by Grandma and Grandpa Horihan's house to pick up the double stroller, drove the Grandma and Grandpa Dairman's house, followed them to Gavin and Ava's mothers house to pick them up and then followed them to the zoo. When Hailey got in the stroller and Grandpa Dairman was putting sunscreen on her he stopped and looked at me and here is how the conversation went:
Dennis: she doesn't have any pants on
Me: I know, she's wearing a dress (I thought he was saying that because Ava had on the same dress and was wearing shorts under hers)
Dennis: no she's not wearing ANY pants...she's got nothing on
Apparently, after I got Hailey dressed she took off her pull up and didn't tell me. The funny part is that while we were in the car she had told me, "Nakey mommy" and I told her she was being silly and that she wasn't naked, she had a dress on. She just laughed and said, "nakey". I guess next time I should listed to her when she tells me that. =)
Baby Lacy was with us all day too, but she slept most of the day in the stroller, so she's not in any of the pictures this time. She's doing pretty good, and is 17 days old today. Her due date is tomorrow, and she's finally starting to have a little bit more awake time during the day (and during the night too). Her prevacid prescription was $50! But we were able to scam it a little bit and get two months worth out of it by getting the Dr to write it for twice the strength and cut each tablet in half. She goes back to the Dr on Monday, so we'll know how she's doing then.

12 days old today.

We went for Lacy's appointment today and she gained 8 ounces since last Monday, which brought her back up to her birth weight of 7lbs 9oz. Unfortunately the test still showed blood in her stool, but not as much. The doctor wrote her a prescription for acid reflux and told me we could keep her on this formula for another week and then he wants to see her again...good thing we have great insurance! Anyway, I'm glad she gained as much weight as she did because she has been spitting up quite a bit in the past few days.

Today will be my first day back at softball practice since I had Lacy. I dropped Talon and Hailey off at the sitter's this morning so that I wouldn't have to take them with me to the doctor, then I met Joe for lunch. I'm going to take Lacy to Joe so that I can go up to the softball field in about an hour. I'm really looking forward to getting back to it. There are only a few more weeks left of the season, and (cross your fingers) I think we have a pretty good chance at winning state this year.

Home for a week now...

Lacy is 9 days old today and we visited Aunt Susan, Aiden and Gavin and then went to get her PKU done at the hospital this afternoon. After that, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Horihan's house and visited with them, Sydney, Braden, Tyler, and Uncle Dave and had dinner there. I've been off work for over a week now (other than the 4 hours I went in for on Wednesday morning). I don't really like being home all day. I'm not used to it, so I'm always asking the kids what they want to do next. Now who do you want to go visit? K, now what? I think right when I get used to this I'll have to go back to work. =) Here's a cute picture I took of Lacy this week.
And the one Hailey wanted to take after we were done with Lacy's

The kids are loving their baby sister and Hailey still gets upset anytime anyone else wants to look at her, hold her or feed her.

At Lacy's appointment on Friday the doctor found blood in her stool. Those of you who don't know about our kids and their allergies, here's the scoop. A few weeks after Talon was born we couldn't get him to stop crying. He went a few weeks crying whenever he was awake until I finally decided that it couldn't just be colic like everyone was telling me and took him to the doctor. He had blood in his stool, which meant he had some allergies and I was told to stop breastfeeding completely and switch him to the non-dairy, non-soy based formula especially for babies with allergies. He was an entirely different baby in about 2 days. When he was about 9 months old we took him to an allergist and found out that his allergies were milk and eggs....luckily he has grown out of those now and has no allergies. When Hailey was born, the pediatrician strongly suggested to use the same formula and skip all of the problems we had with Talon, so we did and she has never had any problems with any food. We did the same thing with Lacy, only she STILL had blood in her stool! Anyway, he said that it could just be that way because I had milk while I was pregnant and that may still be in her system?? We are going back on Monday to have her checked again, and if it's not better, we may have to switch to an even more expensive formula (which I was SHOCKED to find out even existed) that you can only order directly from the manufacturer online. So, pray that she is OK, or we may have to sell our house to buy the new stuff. =)

Lacy Marie Dairman

Lacy Marie was born on 4/9/08 at 6:21 pm. She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 19 inches long. I went in for a normal Dr. appt on Wednesday morning and my doctor and I were both surprised to find that I was dialated to 5cm and 80% effaced. He asked me if I was in labor, and I told him that I didn't think so. =) He put me on a monitor and found that the contractions were 5-9 minutes apart, so he sent me to the mall to walk around and then check into the hospital. I went home and picked up my bag, picked up Joe from work and we went to the mall, walked around, had lunch and headed to the hospital. We checked in around 2:00 and I was at 7 cm. My contractions were still not great though, so the doctor came by and said that he would come back after business hours and break my water to speed things up. He broke my water at 5:11 and I had some serious labor for about an hour, pushed through three contractions, and Lacy was born at 6:21.
My parents were great and brought the kids that same evening to see their new little sister. They were so excited!! I can already tell that we are going to have our hands full with Hailey. She says "my baby Lacy" and wants to do EVERYTHING. She didn't want anyone else to do anything for Lacy while she was there...it's really cute. She's going to be a great little helper.

My mom came back with the kids on Thursday afternoon to see their sister again, and this time Hailey actually let Talon hold her too.

I love this picture showing how excited Talon and Hailey are about their baby sister Lacy.

Cute Game

I'm going to steal this idea from my sister-in-law Courtney because I thought it was cute. What you do is type in your first name and then needs into a search engine and see what comes up. Here are our results:

Kathy needs:
Kathy needs to give herself some credit
Kathy needs more attention
Kathy needs your help now
Kathy needs to do more talk shows
(but I already know who the baby daddy is, so what's the point?)
Kathy needs to find non-religious material to add to her routines

Joe needs:
Joe needs to remember that he is vulnerable to anything that gives an emotional uplift
Joe needs YOU
Joe needs a home
Joe needs help
(apparently with finding a new home??)
Joe needs to get his head out of his a$$ and face reality (hee hee)
Joe needs to poop (I know that makes 6, but it was too funny to leave out)

Talon needs:
Talon needs work
Talon needs advice
Talon needs serious help
(most of you have probably said that out loud a few times) =)
Talon needs a new home (so...there must be something Joe and Talon aren't telling me??)
Talon needs a good tune up

Hailey needs:
Hailey needs to look where she is going
(this could not be more true had it been written directly about her)
Hailey needs a hug (...and a kiss and a five and knuckles...blow it up)
Hailey needs to pee
Hailey needs other outside interests
(and we mean other than food)
Hailey needs your prayers and positive thoughts

Lacy needs:
Lacy needs to get a clue (I think that may be a bit harsh for someone who isn't even born yet!)
Lacy needs lots of attention and exercise
Lacy needs to learn self control
Lacy needs a place to stay
(because she has just about worn out her welcome in her current location) =)
Lacy needs a family that is loving and consistant with expectations and enforcing boundaries (we'll do our best!!)
